The Windy City

Lots of people wondering how the windy city is, I've got one word for you.... CRAZY! Traveling anywhere requires lots of patience during rush hours. We planned to eat today at a place about 14 miles from our hotel. We left at 5:25 to be there at 6:00. We pulled in around 6:15! Yeah, that was 50 minutes for 14 miles. And 8 miles of that was supposed to be at 60mph. I doubt we got over 35 the whole drive.

Speaking of eating, the food is "off the chain". I have eaten Chicago deep dish pizza twice, BBQ/ribs/brisket twice, and a Chicago dog. I'm on track to gain 10 pounds this week! Check out the pics. I don't have a pic of the Chicago dog but I'll see if I can get one. The toppings include hot peppers, sliced tomato, and a pickle spear. It's different, to say the least.

This was Weber Grill where everything is cooked on Weber charcoal grills. It was really good.

This is Super Dawgs. This is a well known Chicago eatery that specializes in hotdogs.

And this was the highlight of the trip. AWESOME food!!!

I'm buying a smoker as soon as I get home! Even the baked beans were smoked and crazy good.

We also took a drive on Lake Shore Drive. We stopped at Lincoln park and took a walk on the lake. Yes, this is a lake. Lake Michigan is huge and looks like the ocean from the ground and from the air.

Check out the videos of the lake shore.

Hunter takes on the turkeys!

So I've finally made it back to the great USA! I'm so glad to be home. For those of you who don't know, it is halfway through turkey season here in SC. Only 2 weeks left so I've got to make up for lost time. I got my gear out today and of course Hunter wanted to play. I figured it would make a cute photo op so I set him up. He was excited and wanted to really shoot my decoy.  After the photos, all three kids took turns shooting clay targets. They all love shooting the BB gun. Get 'em started early!

Ready
Aim!
Fire!

From the looks of those last 3 pics, I'd guess he missed!

Regensburg

This week has finally come to a close. Just a few days left! I am so ready to get home to see my family. We did have a good day Saturday doing a little sight seeing. Donald Davis and I went to a town called Regensburg. Regensburg is a fairly big town with lots of tourist attractions. We just walked the town and saw the sights, it can take all day to do some of the tours. Anyway, it was a nice place with LOTS of people. Here are a few pics.

I really like the suit in the middle. Would make a nice Easter suit, huh?

A taste of Germany at home

Here is something that Daniel brought home from his last trip. He didn't care for it but you can tell from the pictures that the kids really enjoyed it dipped in strawberries!
